Hello friends and family! I’ve decided that my first act of kindness will be giving blood to the American Red Cross on August 16th (Mom’s birthday). After Mom retired from teaching, she became a Red Cross volunteer for local blood drives. For those who knew her well, this was not an ideal place for her to volunteer as she was terrified of needles! My brothers and I could make her shudder and close her ears just by saying the word vein or needle.
My oldest brother Mike has already agreed to donate with me. This is a big feat for him as he inherited Mom’s needle phobia. If anyone else would like to make a blood donation in her honor, send me a quick note and I will make a list all of the donors. Thanks to all!
